In the 30s getting lyrics credits was highly competitive.
Several lyricists would often be asked to write lryics, then the best was selected.

Buddy contacted the composer - Erskine Hawkins - to ask "What is Tuxedo Junction?"
He learned it was a whistle-stop performance venue for "Race Music" in the South. Buddy wrote the lyrics to match its theme and his were selected.
